Helping save lives

Supporting research that helps prevent needless deaths from
sudden cardiac arrest, trauma, and during birth

Our focus

The Laerdal Foundation provides financial support to practically oriented research projects aimed at helping prevent needless deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, trauma, and during birth.

We prioritize projects with a high potential to helping save lives, and have earmarked 50% of the grants to saving lives at birth projects in low-resource settings.

Impact

Over the years, the Foundation has supported more than 2,000 research projects with over 400 million USD.

We believe a number of the projects have contributed to helping save lives. Examples include more than 35 Utstein expert meetings, establishment of five Global Resuscitation Alliances, more than 200 published papers related to Safer Births and seed funding to the World Health Organization’s Acute Care Action Network.

Projects we've supported

45 years of research for helping save lives

The Laerdal Foundation was established in 1980 to provide support for research projects that can help prevent needless deaths from sudden cardiac arrest, trauma, and during birth.

The Foundation shares the mission with the Laerdal companies of helping save lives but operates independently under the regulation of the Norwegian Foundation’s Act.
